Her Campus Journey
Before the mid semester break in 2018, “get inspired by HER Campus Journey” was organized where five female speakers from different engineering background were invited to this sharing session to share their in- campus experience, with the goal to inspire young girls to go all out and grab the world by the lapels.
Let’s take a look back at an inspirational night with our speakers, Shum Kar Yen, Andi Farah, Adliana Zaafarani, Sivasangary Ragupathy and Aiqa Arbila.

Aspiring to be a change, Kar Yen wants people to know that every individual can grow inside and out. “Instead of being a participant, I think that taking a role in organizing an event is the fastest way to grow.” Why? Because when you take on a role, you make mistakes which is normal. What’s important is that you learn from these mistakes and stop repeating them.
In Andi Farah’s opinion, one reason why girls think of each other as rivals is that they are afraid. In tackling this problem, it is important for girls to re-evaluate how they see each other. Instead of thinking other people as your rivals, we should start thinking about yourself because it is always going to be you versus your mind set and you versus your ego.
With a combination of engineering background and experience in business marketing and fashion, Adliana Zaafarani thinks that one should not hesitate to do what he or she likes. You can always dream, but a dream without any effort will remain a dream. The courage of taking the first step is important and when you fail for the first time, do not give up. Instead, brave it out.
For Sivasangary Ragupathy, her campus journey did not just revolve around USM, but it was beyond the fences of USM. After joining various programmes which requires her to be out of Malaysia, she became an entirely new person, which is a total opposite of her old shy personality. Thus, she thinks that it is important for you to break your boundaries and run towards your fear.
Aiqa Arbila shared her story about how her loved ones retaught her on some values of life. If you truly want to go aft er what you want, you should find something that you’re truly good at and invest your time and energy in it and see how you can really leverage on that skill.
